Death of Brother Alphonse Insalaco, OCSO (1924-2013)

Brother Alphonse Insalaco, 89, monk of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia died on Tuesday September 24, 2013 after a few months of illness. Brother Alphonse died peacefully at the monastery’s infirmary in the arms of his brother infirmarian. The burial service at the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday September 27, 2013 at 9:00AM in the Abbey Church.

Brother Alphonse was born on August 29, 1924, in Niagara Falls, New York. His family moved to Miami, FL when he was at an early age. He joined the monastery in September 1950 and professed solemnly vows in March 1956. He served the monastic community in many ways over the years and in his later years was in charge of the water supply treatment. Brother Alphonse is a veteran who served his country in the Army during the 2nd World War. He is survived by his brother Sam Insalaco of Miami, Florida, his nephew Joe Insalaco (wife Twyla), and niece Linda Insalaco. Brother had been in monastic vows for 63 years when the Lord called him.
